Chick Chat!

A little over a year ago my mom and I started a ministry called "Chick Chat".We really felt as though there was a need for women to gather together and share "Their Story". My mom had thought of the idea when I was going through all of my problems with infertility and after I had my miscarriage. I would try and talk to her about it but she didnt know what to do or say because she had never gone through anything like that before. Fortunately God had His own plan and used a few of my friends to help me through a really difficult time. And through sharing our experiences and trials with each other... Chick Chat began. Every month women from all different stages of life come and gather at my moms house and listen to a different woman each month share "Her Story". At the end everyone gets to have dessert completely provided and made by me. I'm a pastry chef so of course I love to make a different and unique dessert each month. Its such an Amazing time and it really has opened my eyes to what God really has brought us here on earth to do... To connect with other people and Glorify Him. Here are some pictures of our Chick chat tonight....

This is the dessert table: Candy topiaries, Cupcakes and Caramel apples
I made these Candy Topiaries and the ribbon Wreath its sitting in and now that I look at the whole thing together it looks like a Witch's hat so I'm just gunna say I planned on it to look that way ;)

I made caramel apples! Some rolled in pecans with chocolate drizzle and some rolled in oreos with white chocolate drizzle
These are Candy Bar Cupcakes! It's a caramel butter cake with chocolate chip cream filling inside and Swiss meringue buttercream with candy on top
These are some of "The Chicks" I love these sweet friends!
Me and my friend Rhonda. Love her!
Our speaker tonight (Delaine) spoke about how she always wanted her life to be "perfect" but throughout her life and the many trials and storms she had to endure, she realized that she will never be perfect but she has a God who is. It's so neat to have this group of women to fellowship with. Maybe you can start your own "Chick Chat"???

  6. Oh my goodness! Thank you for saying "hi" on my blog. I'm so glad to know you have a blog (it's beautiful) ... and I don't even know where to start. So excited to see some people from the retreat in the chick chat pictures and of course to see beautiful Hannah!! She is absolutely darling.

I was reading on and saw Ouachita. Now I'm curious where you went to school. I thought about going to Ouachita since I'm from Little Rock but decided it was a "little bitty Baylor" and wanted to go to "big" Baylor. I'm really glad I did but one of my best friends went there. Plus I read "Kelly's Korner" too so she always talks about it.

(sorry I'm writing so much) but I wanted to tell you about Chick Chat. Jennifer told me about it last year and I didn't know you were the "founder". I LOVED the idea and started something similar at our church called "wow". It stands for "Women on Wednesdays" and we gather and a different woman speaks each week and tells her story ... often (and we didn't plan it this way) but of how God has caused her to go "WOW" in her life. Anyway ... I just love that you said it has made you realize what God put you here to do ... isn't it AMAZING when we know our purpose ... and isn't it AMAZING/fulfilling, etc. to use those gifts for him?!? Anyway ... I loved how you wrote about it.

    Can't wait to read more!!
