It's not ready to be worn out "in public" though. If you look close some of the stitching is waaaayyy off but hopefully my next one will be better.

Sewing my first dress!
I have been wanting to learn how to sew for the longest time. I honestly thought that once I got a sewing machine that it would be so easy and I could just whip up a dress in minutes. My sweet husband bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and I was so excited to get to work. I went and bought all kinds of fabric because I really wanted to start with making a reversible dress. Ha! boy was I delusional! I took the machine out of the box and I could barely figure out how to turn the thing on much less make a reversible dress. I watched the DVD on how to thread the bobbin and needle and I couldn't do it to save my life. I decided to call my friend Megan who is is really good at sewing and has also done several dresses for Hannah. I ended up going over to her house yesterday so that she could show me how to do the basics. We ended up doing a "pillow case dress" its really basic but for me it was really complicated. Megan showed me step by step on how to do the dress and I thought it turned out pretty good for my first dress ever.

ReplyDeleteYou did great! Shuan bought me a sewing machine last Christmas and I have not even turned it on yet. I am too scared to even try. I have a embroidery machine and it is easy to use. The thought of making my own girls clothes scares me for some reason! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! Wow, you're just so talented :)

ReplyDeleteFun! It looks really good!!! I remember I had such a hard time remembering how to thread my machine, I thought I would never pick it up. Oh and I still have trouble with the reversible dress so don't worry!
ReplyDeleteI inherited my grandma's sewing machine ten or so years ago, and I STILL can barely thread the thing!!!

ReplyDeleteGood for you...once you start sewing, you'll quickly become addicted and cute fabric is soooo addictive. Let me know if you get serious and need some fabric suggestions. I have tons of favorites from when I used to sew. XOXO
